Juan-les-Pins, the famous pine trees and jazz meet again in July.
For over half a century as Rimbaud said, “the star cried jazz to the heart of our ears”! And we continue to cry, with joy. In the surreal setting of sea and stars, we can hear Frank Sinatra and Judy Garland singing “Fly me to the moon” … maybe this should be the official hymn for the immense musical event Jazz in Juan. And this year, its 53rd edition, is no exception. Different styles, new talent, legendary names will be taking over the famous stage. Blues and folk, free jazz, rock, bossanova, funk and Bach!
Once again, Jazz à Juan will enthuse and enthrall. The lords of jazz such as Keith Jarrett (present every year since 2000) with his partners Gary Peacock and Jack de Johnette (12 July), Wynton Marsalis and his big band after Wayne Shorter the honorary guest (16 July), Marcus Miller (20 July), Ibrahim Maalouf, followed by Mr. Sting in person, performing for the first time in Juan (18 July). Another legend of the stage, the Temptations with two of the former Supremes as guest stars (13 July), Avishai Cohen (15 July) and Garland Jeffreys followed by the lady of jazz, Diana Krall (19 July), among many other artists. And to end in beauty, the bewitching voice of the great jazz maestra of recent times, Melody Gardot, a voluptuous magician of vocals.
