Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc

-

If we had to mention only one glamorous pool on the Riviera, it is that of the Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc, a lagoon carved into the rock, which would be the paragon. Initially imagined “La Villa Soleil” in 1863 by the founder of Le Figaro Hippolyte de Villemessant in 1863 to welcome writers in search of inspiration, the hotel, inaugurated in Napoleon III style in 1870, attracts the Who's Who of the arts: Hemingway, Picasso... then later Madonna or Sharon Stone, when the property was bought by the Oetker family. For a dive into a Slim Aarons shot, book at the Michelin-starred table by Sébastien Broda and the new pastry chef Tarek Ahamada, a treatment at the Dior Spa, or a day in one of the 33 legendary cabins, and breathe in the sweet scent of roses and pines in the extraordinary garden.

Good to know

  • Scott Fitzgerald praised the delights of the hotel, nicknamed Hotel des Étrangers, in his fourth and last novel “Tender Is Night”, and Alfred Hitchcock shot “Hand at the Neck” there.

  • Considered discreet, the palace opens its doors to the media every year during the famous amfAR auction dinner, a foundation created by Elizabeth Taylor for the fight against AIDS.

  • In 2024, the exhibition “A Summer at the Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc” brings together the monumental sculptures by Daniel Buren, Alicja Kwade, Bertrand Lavier, Ugo Rondinone and Lee Ufan, selected by the gallery owner Kamel Mennour, in 2024, which initiated a timeless dialogue between art and nature in the Hotel's park.
